Work package 6 - Stakeholder Cooperation

Coordination and monitoring: Overall WP leader will be prof Patrick Sorgeloos (Ghent University), with support from 3 task leaders, each assigned to a specific stakeholder group:

Aim: To promote synergies between all stakeholders involved in the Aqua-tnet domain and reinforce the link between education and society, bringing together educational, scientific and professional players, thereby contributing to Europe’s innovation capacity.

A key element of current EC priorities is that universities should develop structured partnerships with the world of enterprise in order to become significant players in the economy, able to respond better and faster to the demands of the market and to develop partnerships which harness scientific and technological knowledge. It is suggested that research and enterprises could help universities to reshape curricula, governance structures and contribute to funding. In the context of the current economic downturn there is renewed urgency to building better business-university links as a means to strengthen Europe's knowledge triangle. This WP will continue the work in developing a symbiotic relationship between Aqua-tnet stakeholders and educational providers as was started in the previous phase and ensure that course design (including placements, exchanges etc.) and content is fit for purpose and relevant to requirements as demanded by industry and other players outside the educational world.

Main Objectives

A. To encourage cooperation between the worlds of education, training and work and increase the amount of communication channels between the different stakeholders and learning providers in order to ensure constant and effective transfer of latest knowledge
B. To develop a structured partnership between the Aqua-tnet Erasmus network with industry, most notably the Technology Platforms in our area such as EATIP and TECNOPEIXE to establish structured partnerships with the world of enterprise, so we become better able to respond better and faster to the demands of the market.
C. To increase the amount of communication channels between research institutes and learning providers in order to ensure constant transfer of latest knowledge. Europe’s knowledge triangle, key driver to Europe’s knowledge based society, builds upon the interaction between research, education and innovation.
D. To reinforce the link with stakeholder representatives for the European students from the whole Aqua-tnet domain, by working together with the other implementation WP’s to participate in the work of productive WPs (e.g., case studies, webportals, courses and course materials, active dissemination)
