NEWSFLASH from WP5 - Possible publication of Special Issue on Aqua-tnet innovatory teaching and learning initiatives

During the April WP5 core group meeting, there was a suggestion that this WP should seek a journal with the aim of producing a Special Issue devoted to the long-term and often ground-breaking work on teaching and learning issues in the marine science sector. We have produced many lengthy and detailed reports which languish on the top shelve of EU offices. The time has come to widen our dissemination efforts. We need to brush the dust off some of these reports, cut out the verbiage that the EU Final Reporting system requires, and produce re-edited papers for a well-defined target audience.
We would be grateful if any of our many readers could suggest peer-reviewed journals for us to contact.
Margaret Eleftheriou
WP coordinator

Technology that reduces water consumption by around 98 per cent is a key feature of new recirculating systems now available to the global aquaculture industry, according to an aquaculture specialist speaking at the Australasian Aquaculture Conference 2012 conference in Melbourne. Professor Thomas M Losordo, who presented at the Aquaculture Recirculating Technology Short-Course at the Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT), said such technology must be part of the future for the rapidly growing aquaculture industry.
